This is the first time I've ever done ANY Nightmare Before Christmas artwork. I was in the mood to do a painting for Halloween since I won't get to do too much else on the day. So, I chose Jack Skellington.
Originally he was just going to hold an ordinary pumpkin, but then I began to find his Pumpkin King form [the scarecrow] rather fascinating, so I decided the pumpkin he is holding would be the head of his scarecrow form.
I was playing with colors and such. I know the coloring is a bit off considering the direction of the jack-o-lantern's face...but if I turned it any more it would just look odd as half a face just for the purpose of lighting. So...yeah there are some mistakes in it, but still a piece I'm rather pleased.
I've learned...that I hate pinstripes. They are a pain to make and the layers are a pain to keep track of...however I wouldn't say this would be the last time I ever painted Jack.
So...I hope everyone enjoys my very first Nightmare Before Christmas painting.
LOL I couldn't get that imperfect shape right so I kept it perfectly circular. The tilt though, I definitely wanted that eerie enchantment Tim Burton often delivers.
Thank you....it game me back a lot of confidence I was missing. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to paint anything good again. I'm glad he turned out as well as he did...and on time!
